Better Nutrition Helped Hypoglycemica

Name:
Gary Sandman

Location:
Washington, D.C.

Story:

When I was on my teens my good friend Rob and I were both diagnosed as
Hypoglycemic. If I didn't eat often my attention span would go out the
window at school and my emotions would get on edge and become very reactive.
Sometimes I would even feel faint. My doctor and nutritionists guided me to
get rid of any sweet and all sugars in my diet, to eat little meals through
out the day and to take a good  supplement. No more Cokes, cakes, pies, and
ice cream.

Within a few months my symptoms went away. Rob didn't get the same advice
and continued to suffer yet he did try to eat throughout the day and that
helped stop the fainting spells. Fast forward 30 years and I am still the
same weight (+/- 5 lbs.) that I was in high school 185 on a 6'4" frame. I
had stopped all forms of sugar when I was younger so that now I can
occasionally eat a sweet. I have kept up with taking a top grade multi
vitamin and I eat three meals a day with a couple of lite snacks. I have no
sign of hypoglycemia or diabetes.

My friend Rob did not alter his lifestyle and today he is a full blown
insulin dependant diabetic. I know I still have the tendency to be a
hypoglycemic or worse - so I maintain my food intake and use very little
sugar or none at all. And I take a customized multi vitamin mineral
supplement. I believe we all have inherent tendencies to a particular
illness or imbalance. We need to learn how to choose a healthy lifestyle for
ourselves that does not feed that imbalance, but strengthens our system and
maintains a healthy balance.

For the last thirty years my work in CAM and integrative medicine has lead
to the discovery of an individualized bio chemistry based nutritional
program. I am associated with a team of experts who developed a series of
tests to determine your nutritional type and provide an individualized
supplement and a list of food groups to eat and avoid based on your
biochemistry. Our next phase is to develop a series of gene based tests to
determine the trends we have in out body to illnesses and to provide natural
lifestyle solutions to maintain our health and well being. We can live a
healthy life.
