Nine years ago I became one of the growing number of parents with autistic children. My son Max was nonverbal and becoming increasingly more distant. His nursery school told us to seek medical help. We did some experimenting with food elimination (which helped somewhat) and began therapy for him. About six months later we discovered homeopathy. We took our son to John Melnychuk, a classical homeopath in the Palo Alto, CA area, and within a week were seeing noticeable changes.
I'll admit, we were a bit skeptical! My husband and I are both PhD's in computer science, and at the time I was working at NASA. But as the months went by, Max improved more and more. By the time he was 5, he was testing above age level, and few people would have been able to detect the remaining vestiges of his former autism. Since that time, he has only had to take occasional remedies and visit our homeopath about once or twice a year.
Today my son is 12 and in 7th grade. No one who knows him would suspect his past. He is a comical, sociable, popular, and a top student! Homeopathy saved our family. Over the years, I went on to study homeopathy myself and eventually gave up computer science research altogether. I've written about Max's story on the web and for homeopathic journals.
