The Canary in the Coal Mine

Name:
Terri Byrd

Story:

I was diagnosed in 1999, at the age of 38, with Parkinson's Disease then, 9 months later with Breast Cancer. I felt like the "canary in the coal mine." Years ago when the canary got quiet the coal miners knew the oxygen was low and it was time to get out. Difference is I do not want to go quietly! I have two websites; www.urcctc.com Conquering Cancer Through Christ and www.defeatcancer.org where I advocate, as patients, we Demand Equal Funding Exploring Alternative Therapy for the treatment of cancer. I am a firm believer in the power of faith and the benefits of CAM, Complementary Alternative Medicine. One year after surgery, chemotherapy and radiation I had a recurrance, not just to my other breast, but to my bones as well. I had surgery again and the bone metastasis were irradiated. My condition was stable until October 2003 when a bone met became active again. I have thoroughly researched alt meds and am finding proper nutrition works! I think it is of vital importance to change the way we treat diseases. There is a better way; an alternative way! We cannot, we must not, let this opportunity slip away. Our lives and our children's lives depend on our actions. "Pay attention to my words, for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their whole body." Proverbs 4:20-22 Pay attention, the time to take action is now, after all doesn't everyone know a "canary in a coal mine"? I thank God everyday for the opportunity to reach out and help others in mind, body and spirit. For 13 years I worked as a Physician Assistant healing bodies; now for everyday He gives me I try to touch a soul. Thank you for letting me share my story.
